056_2_metalurgicheskiy_cekhThe greatest reform in the history of mankind, which was the replacement of stone implements for metallurgical ones, took place on the Armenian plateau much earlier than in many other parts of the world.Founded in the 5th – 4th millennium BC, Metsamor was the ancient cradle of ore production. Although archaeological data prove  the existence of even earlier settled culture in this area, the metallurgical center only appeared in the Early Bronze  Age. Numerous foundries and waste of copper production, have been found near the huge fortress laying.
