The Disappearance of the Cone

100_0461_vershina_aragacThe disappearance of Aragats Cone is of great interest. Such cones are generally characteristic of volcanic  structures and rise when lava gets cooled and solidified. One can have an idea of the Mount’s probable height when joining in mind the vectors of opposite slopes and making them intersect.  When taking  into account the area span and the abundance of lava layers, one can hardly deny the fact that the present  height of Aragats peaks is not so impressive.

The cone must have been destroyed in gigantic eruption. The researchers don’t doubt that it collapsed just before the eyes of the plateau dwellers. Indeed, some labor tools and sites reminiscent of the primitive men were discovered under lava covers.
